About Us

SustainableScoop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Arlington, VA. We provide a platform for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including neurodiverse individuals and those from marginalized communities, to amplify their voices through multimedia storytelling. We strive to represent these communities in our content and workforce.

We are currently recruiting for the following internship positions:

Media Library Collection Intern

Position Overview:

Gain hands-on experience curating, maintaining, and enhancing our unique maker library collection.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize collections, manage inventory, document materials, assist users, and support events.

Location: Arlington, VA

Film/Audio Editor

Position Overview:

Learn to edit footage (audio or video) into high-quality content for various purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit trailers, documentaries, news reports, promotional videos, audio podcasts, and behind-the-scenes features.
• Use imagination and artistic skills to create content that resonates with the target audience.

News Reporting Intern (Print and Broadcast)

Position Overview:

Gain hands-on experience in both print and broadcast journalism, focusing on local news, community stories, and events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough research, gather information through interviews and public records, and write and edit news articles.
• Assist in the production of news segments, participate in on-camera reporting, and collaborate with videographers and editors.
• Build relationships with community members and represent SustainableScoop at local events.
• Ensure all reporting reflects the diversity and experiences of neurodiverse individuals and marginalized communities.

Administrative and Production Assistant

Position Overview:

Gain experience in nonprofit administration and media production, supporting both administrative and production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general office duties, schedule meetings, assist with data entry and record keeping, prepare communications, and support grant writing and fundraising efforts.
• Assist in setting up production equipment, coordinate production schedules, prepare scripts, aid in post-production tasks, and participate in brainstorming sessions.
• Build relationships with community members, assist in organizing outreach events, and promote SustainableScoop's mission.
